Dear Roger and Sue,
In response to your inquiry we are pleased to report that
we think our heating costs for the past season have been most
reasonable.
As you know we moved in on July 19.
Our gas bill July 19 to August 19 =
$11.57
August 19 to Sept.19 =
$10.95
These two months are probably a good indication of our cost
of hot water only and represent a typical $10.00 deduction
that should be made from the following to get true heating
costs.
Sept. 18 to Oct. 18 = $18.41
Oct. 18 to Nov. 18 = $27.16
Nov. 18 to Dec. 18 = $52.42
Dec. 18 to Jan. 20 = $69.30
Jan. 20 to Feb. 19 = $59.11
Feb. 19 to March 20 = $59.69
We calculate that we spent $286.09 less $60.00 for hot water
or $226.09 for 6 months for gas heat. That averages out to
$37.68 per month for heat! Considering that our house is 1672
square feet, we think we have some bragging rights.
We did not take any special measures to conserve heat. The
thermostat is set at 68° and stays there. True the Cozy
Heat fireplace helped. We used the fireplace for pleasure
and leisure time (mostly weekends). We burned less than one
cord of wood and enjoyed every minute of it.
Oddly enough, after spending so much time and effort in planning
and building our home, we find we did not take many pictures
during the past year. But we think you'll find the enclosed
prints interesting. You can probably spot more features of
quality than we are aware of, but we're just too busy being
proud of our home.
