Dear new home builder,
As first time builders, my wife and I didn't know what to
expect. We both wanted our dream home to be perfect. With
our thoughts on paper, we had an architect finalize them.
Our next step was to bid out the job. We contacted three area
contractors and submitted our plans.
A few days went by and we received a call from Roger Mathwig.
He was very cordial in his request to be involved in the bidding
of our new home. My wife jokingly named him the "uninvited
contractor" but we did not know how lucky we were to
have answered his call that day. I took Roger's offer to see
some homes that he had built that were very similar in construction
to what we had planned. I was very pleased with what I saw
and was even more impressed to hear what the residents of
these homes had to say of Roger Mathwig Builders.
The bids were due and we were very unimpressed to find that
one contractor would not return our calls, the other was too
busy to start on time and the third delivered his bid sheet,
yes "sheet" (not including the cover letter). Roger
Mathwig delivered his bid to us in a timely manner and sat
down with us to go through the entire "file". He
had listed everything from soup-to-nuts. There was no comparison
between the competitions bid sheet and Roger Mathwig's building
materials file. His explanation of items we had questioned
led us to believe in his knowledge and abilities in his field
of work. We selected Roger Mathwig Builders hands down and
we were very pleased to find that his bid was below our monetary
expectations.
Later, good friends of ours had learned that Roger Mathwig
was building our home on beautiful Green Lake and they assured
us that we had chosen the right man for the job. Even our
custom cabinet maker was pleased and gave testament to the
attention to detail of Roger's house framers [Keith and Mike].
He said that he has never had to modify cabinets to fit erroneous
angles in the walls and floors.
Our new 6,000 square ft. brick home was completed on time
and my wife and I are elated to have not been divorced over
the project. The most stressful aspect of building is choosing
what color this and what color that ... etc. Now that the
building and decorating is complete (ok, the decorating is
never completely finished), my wife is going through color
sample withdrawals. Thanks to Roger Mathwig's ability to choreograph
the entire project, it was a relatively stress free production
and I witnessed no friction between tradesmen on the job site.
Happy tradesmen are productive tradesmen.
We are sure you will appreciate and thank Roger, as we did,
for making your new home or remodeling dreams come true.
Sincerely,
Ed and Debi Carver Smith
